MXF to MOV – Convert MXF to H.264 MOV on Mac
I am sure you will freak out when being faced with such scenarios as “it is frustrating that I can’t edit my 4K MXF video recordings on Premiere Pro CC”, “What on earth is the best editing codec for Premiere Pro CC”, “Why I can’t play my Canon 4K MXF footage with QuickTime” or “I lost my patience when I try to import 4K MXF footage into Vegas Pro 18 for editing but in vain”. So in advance, you should have a rough idea of which format can be edited smoothly by your editing software before anything you do amounts to nothing.
H.264 is a well-known video compression standard for high-definition digital video. This format supports 4K and up to 8K Ultra High-Definition. A codec based on the H.264 standard compresses a digital video file so that it only requires half of the storage space of MPEG-2. Through this compression, the codec is able to maintain the same video quality despite using only half of the storage space. The next generation of compression is known as H.265 or HEVC, offering another quantum leap in efficiency.
MOV files often contain high bitrate video files with little to no compression. They are very high quality but have substantial file sizes. Ideally, if you are using Mac, MOV is quite safe and efficient. We need to convert this format to H.264 MOV for various reasons.
